FloridaMakes, the Leading Organization for Strengthening Florida’s Manufacturing Sector, Celebrates National Manufacturing Day

ORLANDO, FL — Today, October 7, 2022, the State of Florida is celebrating “Manufacturing Day” in conjunction with The National Association of Manufacturers and the other 49 states. For this special day FloridaMakes coordinated efforts throughout its network of regional manufacturers associations to host events, showcasing the importance of manufacturing and promoting career opportunities across the sector.

“In collaboration with our state partner organizations and agencies, we have the goal of making Florida a top five state in manufacturing output by 2030,” said Kevin Carr, FloridaMakes CEO. “I’m thankful for the work of our regional manufacturers associations across the state who are bringing crucial awareness of manufacturing career opportunities to students and teachers, as well as the public, in general. If we’re going to reach our 2030 goal, we need more awareness of the great career opportunities that exist in manufacturing.”

According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), as of August 2022 manufacturing jobs had an average wage of $69,997, fifth highest out of the 11 industry wages measured in the state of Florida. The total number of manufacturing jobs in August was 417,500, an increase of 27,800 jobs over the year.

The state of Florida has 14 regional manufacturers associations covering all regions of the state from the Panhandle to the Keys.
