ABOUT THE TOOL & DIE MAKER APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

The Tool & Die Maker Apprenticeship is a competency-based training program that prepares individuals to build, repair, and maintain the precision tools and dies used in high-performance manufacturing operations.  Apprentices gain the technical expertise and problem-solving skills needed to support efficient production and ensure quality in every part produced.

Trains Workers on:
The frameworks include safety and workplace readiness, precision machining and fabrication, tool and die design and assembly, quality and continuous improvement, and leadership and communication in manufacturing. During the training period, apprentices follow a structured training plan that allows them to master occupational skills in the context of an employer’s organization and access theoretical content on demand through ToolingU-Sme's online Learning Management System. The competency based program is designed to provide a minimum of online self-paced 230 Related Technical Instruction (RTI) hours.

Through the coursework delivered by Tooling U-SME, participants learn to interpret blueprints, operate advanced machinery, troubleshoot die performance, and ensure production of high-quality components that power Florida’s manufacturing sector.

BENEFITS TO EMPLOYERS

Attract and Retain Talent

Registered apprenticeship programs can help you attract and retain talent. On average, employers see a 94% retention rate with apprentices 3 years post program completion. Retaining employees is more cost effective than continuously hiring and retraining.

Cost-Efficient

Maximize ROI and create a pipeline of skilled workers.  The courses in the program can be customized by each participating manufacturer to reflect their specific needs, minimizing costs by cutting unproductive training expenses.

Increase Productivity

As higher trained employees are more able to execute tasks efficiently, they will produce higher quality work while reducing business costs. Skills learned on an Apprenticeship will increase your employee's ability to better do their job, enhancing their performance and ultimately your bottom line.

Upskilling for Career Advancement

Apprentices learn the skills that enable them to make valuable contributions at work while also being upskilled to take on more duties and responsibilities.  Apprentices earn an industry-recognized credential upon completion of the program.  The Related Technical Instruction (RTI) builds on the 165 hours body knowledge by providing employers the flexibility to add an additional 51 hours of courses to meet their training needs.

BENEFITS TO APPRENTICES

Successfully Build a Learn to Earn Culture

One way of improving employee retention and productivity is by building a workplace culture that offers upskilling and reskilling opportunities.  Developing a culture that supports learning to earn is an investment that helps your company capitalize on your workforce’s potential to drive engagement and productivity.

Flexible Competency Model
