ABOUT THE INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

The Industrial Manufacturing Technician (IMT) Apprenticeship is a competency-based statewide program that upgrades the entry-level skills of production workers. Program requirements include 200 non-working hours of online curriculum and 2,000-hours of on-the-job training. It leverages instruction from the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) through online courses, delivered on Amatrol’s eLearning platform. Courses are interactive and feature state-of-the-art e-learning simulation and technologies and the curriculum is nationally recognized as an industry standard for entry level manufacturing training.
Trains Workers to:
Set up, operate, monitor, and control production equipment.
Help improve manufacturing processes and schedules to meet customer requirements.
Understand manufacturing as a business system that integrates multiple disciplines, processes, and stakeholders.
Efficiently and safely manage raw materials/consumables.
The IMT Program was registered through a collaborative sector strategy approach led by the FloridaMakes Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Leadership Council (AMWLC), industry representatives, CareerSource Florida, the Florida Department of Education’s Division of Career and Adult Education, and the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC).

BENEFITS TO EMPLOYERS

Attract and Retain Talent

The Industrial Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Program assists employers that are struggling to attract and retain talent with the tools necessary to provide entry-level workers with training to quickly enhance their skills and attain industry relevant post secondary credentials.

Cost-Efficient ROI

Many manufacturers report facing skills shortages. IMT’s courses help employers create a pipeline of internal skilled workers; customize skills training, and increase retention and productivity.

Increased Productivity

Customized training that results in highly skilled employees trained to industry/employer specifications. Increased productivity and knowledge transfer through on-the-job learning that reinforces the related technical instruction.

BENEFITS TO APPRENTICES

Career Advancement

Apprentices learn the skills that enable them to make valuable contributions at work while also preparing them for future opportunities.
Apprentices earn the Industrial Manufacturing Technician certificate from the Florida Department of Education and 15 college credits towards the Engineering Technology Associate in Science degree program upon successful attainment of the Certified Production Technician certification (CPT) from the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC).

Learn While You Earn

Tuition is paid by the employer and the apprentice receives wage increases at key points as they work with their mentor and improve skills. Training funds may be available through workforce partners.

Flexible Hybrid Model

Online and on-demand courses eliminate travel while providing on-the-job training at their place of employment.
