Florida Trade & Logistics 2030 Study Released; Key Manufacturing Goals Identified
The Florida Chamber Foundation, in partnership with FloridaMakes, creates blueprint for making Florida a top 10 global economy by 2030.

The Florida Chamber Foundation has released its blueprint for making Florida a top 10 global economy by 2030.

As you might expect, the success of Florida's manufacturing sector will have a major impact in achieving that goal. One of the objectives of the study is to make Florida 5th in U.S. manufacturing output by 2030. As of 2020, Florida was 12th, according to the study.

“The trade and logistics industry is quickly evolving, and the strength and well-being of Florida’s manufacturing economy is inextricably connected to its success,” said Kevin Carr, FloridaMakes CEO and member of the Trade & Logistics 2030 Task Force.

Rovena Pando, FloridaMakes CFO, is also a member of the Trade & Logistics 2030 Task Force. "This study is very near and dear to our hearts, since it's our sole mission to strengthen the manufacturing sector in Florida," said Mrs. Pando. "Working with great partners like the Florida Chamber, Enterprise Florida, CareerSource Florida, Florida DEO, FEDC, and our many allied organizations throughout the state and within the FloridaMakes Network will help us achieve our goals."

Manufacturing Strategies
One of the key strategies of the study is to "establish statewide manufacturing initiative (page 46 of the study)."

According to the study, "an integrated 'ecosystem' approach should focus on how workforce, economic development, infrastructure, tax and regulatory systems, and other policies and investments support manufacturing opportunities." The actions (i.e., tactics) listed in that strategy go on to list such FloridaMakes programs and initiatives as Connex and the MakeMore Manufacturing Summit.
