The Industrial Manufacturing Technician (IMT) Apprenticeship Program is a competency-based hybrid statewide program offered to focus on advancing entry-level skills for new and existing employees in IMT occupations. Program requirements include 200 non-working hours of online curriculum and 2,000-hours of on-the-job training. It utilizes training from the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) through online courses, delivered on Amatrol’s eLearning platform. Courses are interactive and feature state-of-the-art e-learning simulation and technologies and the curriculum is nationally recognized as an industry standard for entry level training.

The IMT Program was designed through a sector strategy approach led by the FloridaMakes Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Leadership Council (AMWLC) and the collaboration amongst manufacturers, CareerSource Florida, the Florida Department of Education’s Division of Career and Adult Education, and MSSC.

Learn While You Earn

Tuition is paid by the employer and the apprentice receives wage increases at key points as they work with their mentor and improve skills. Training funds may be available through workforce partners.

Career Advancement

Apprentices learn the skills that enable them to make valuable contributions at work while also preparing them for future opportunities.

Upon program completion, the apprentice earns a State of Florida-issued, nationally recognized Industrial Manufacturing Technician certification. Apprentices are also eligible for 15 college credits if they take and pass the separate MSCC Assessment tests for the Certified Production Technician certification.

Flexible Hybrid Model

Online and on-demand courses eliminate travel while providing on-the-job training at their place of employment.
