At FloridaMakes, we are proud to join CareerSource Florida in celebrating the 10th Anniversary of National Apprenticeship Week. Apprenticeships are a vital tool in addressing workforce challenges, and Florida’s manufacturing sector continues to be a shining example of how these programs drive economic growth, innovation, and opportunity across the state.
Here’s what Adrienne Johnston, President & CEO of CareerSource Florida, shared to highlight this important milestone:
As we celebrate the 10th Anniversary National Apprenticeship Week, I’m thankful for the key industries that drive our state’s booming economy and support our innovative workforce training strategies, such as Apprenticeships. One that stands out is Florida’s manufacturing sector.
Manufacturing plays a pivotal role in sustaining not only direct jobs but also thousands of indirect jobs throughout our state. For every 100 manufacturing jobs, another 744 jobs are created in other industries. This multiplier effect showcases how essential this sector is to Florida’s economic growth and stability.
Over the past decade, Florida’s manufacturing GDP has seen significant growth, rising from $43.5 billion to an impressive $73 billion. With 25,000 manufacturing businesses operating in our state, the industry continues to expand and adapt, offering Floridians high-quality jobs and fueling innovation.
As the demand for skilled workers outpaces the supply, CareerSource Florida is dedicated to promoting Apprenticeships among other innovative and effective training initiatives that help meet the evolving workforce needs across industries, including the manufacturing sector. A key partner in this effort is FloridaMakes. Through their work, they provide invaluable resources and expertise to manufacturers, helping to drive innovation, improve productivity, and enhance workforce skills.
Together with FloridaMakes, we are building a strong talent pipeline that ensures Florida remains a leader in manufacturing for years to come.
Happy National Apprenticeship Week!
