Ruth Buchanan is currently FloridaMakes' Business Development Director. FloridaMakes strengthens Florida's manufacturing industry. Previously, she was GrowFL's Vice President of Business Development, supporting second-stage companies' growth.
Ruth has over 18 years of experience in economic development, including roles at Manatee County, Lee County, and the City of North Port. She is a recognized leader in economic development, finance, community development, and redevelopment.
Ruth facilitated panels on capital access for manufacturers and how GrowFL augments local economic development efforts. At FloridaMakes, she spearheads leadership initiatives like MakeMore Roundtables, Webinar Series, and Women in Manufacturing.
She holds an MBA from Tuck Business School of Dartmouth University and the International University of Japan. Ruth is a certified economic developer and enjoys facilitating the SBDC's Basic Economic Development Course at USF.
Ruth concluded a fellowship leadership program under the MEP National Network. Her teams have won awards from IEDC, SBDC, and FEDC for excellence in economic development projects.
Ruth is a published writer, with articles featured in global magazines. She is married with two grown children, enjoys traveling, speaks multiple languages, and enjoys genealogy.
