Kevin Carr has dedicated his career to strengthening the U.S. manufacturing sector, with a focus on improving the competitiveness and long-term success of small and medium-sized manufacturers. Since founding FloridaMakes in 2015, Kevin has served as its chief executive officer. FloridaMakes is statewide public-private partnership focused on strengthening and advancing Florida’s manufacturing economy, supporting high-wage, high-skill job creation and retention across the state.
Under his leadership, FloridaMakes works closely with manufacturers, industry partners, workforce organizations, and policymakers to drive innovation, operational excellence, and growth. Kevin has provided management and strategic planning support to manufacturing companies, boards of directors, economic development organizations, and trade associations, helping align manufacturing policy, workforce development, and advanced technology adoption in support of Florida’s rapidly expanding manufacturing sector.
Prior to his work in Florida, Kevin served more than 25 years in technology management positions with the U.S. Navy and as a Senior Executive at the National Institute of Standards and Technology at the U.S. Department of Commerce. More recently, Kevin has been consistently recognized as one of Florida’s 500 Most Influential Business Leaders and serves on the Florida Chamber Foundation Board of Trustees.
