(April 20, 2017) Sarasota-Manatee Counties, FL – The Sarasota-Manatee Manufacturers Association in partnership with The Science Center is launching a new initiative to deliver services from FloridaMakes aimed at improving the competitive ability and profitability of Sarasota-Manatee manufacturing companies.
Florida’s manufacturing sector is an important contributor to the Florida economy as a source of high wage employment and value-added products and processes. FloridaMakes is part of the nationwide National Institute of Standards and Technology's Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NIST MEP) system that was created to address the needs of local manufacturers, with the mission of supporting the growth and competitiveness of U.S. manufacturing.
MEP centers deliver a high return on investment. At the national level, for every one dollar of federal investment, MEP clients generate nearly $19 in new sales, which translates to $2.5 billion annually. And for every $2,001 of federal investment, MEP helps companies create or retain one U.S. manufacturing job.
The services are designed to help manufacturing firms identify new opportunities for growth and bottom line cost savings, adopt best practices and appropriate technology, and benefit from process improvement and specialized training to support the needs of a skilled workforce. FloridaMakes’ business advisors located at The Science Center as well as FloridaMakes’ statewide network of professional consultants and national resources will deliver these services.
For information on how your company can benefit from the FloridaMakes initiative, contact Paul Szablowski at (813) 397-2016 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
