The Bob Provitola Manufacturing Leadership Award is a memorial recognition established in 2021 to honor the spirit of volunteer leadership and dedication that characterized Bob Provitola’s service to the manufacturing community throughout his career.
Bob was among the strongest advocates for the advancement of Florida’s manufacturing sector. He was a tireless advocate for the industry throughout his career, leading initiatives focused on improving manufacturing, economic development and education; and mentoring of the future manufacturing workforce.
As the Division Vice President for Mitsubishi Power Americas, Bob was key in locating their facilities in the Orlando and Lake Mary areas. In this position, Bob contributed to many state and local educational and economic development initiatives directed at improving our manufacturing economy and creating high-wage, high-skills jobs. In addition to serving on the FloridaMakes Board, Bob had also volunteered his time on the boards of the Manufacturers Association of Florida, the Manufacturers Association of Central Florida, and the Florida Advanced Technological Education Center (FLATE), among others.
Bob was instrumental in leading the successful bid to establish FloridaMakes in 2015, by winning an award from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), bringing an annual investment of $4.2 million into strengthening the productivity and technology performance of Florida’s manufacturing economy. As of April 2021, FloridaMakes, and the regional manufacturers associations that operate it, have realized a combined economic impact of $2.58B to the companies they have served and have created or retained a total of 15,974 jobs. These are the sorts of contributions that will benefit generations to come.
FloridaMakes, in honor of Bob's service and dedication to the organization and to the industry, remembers his legacy with the creation of this award in his name to recognize others with similar spirit and contributions to manufacturing and its future workforce.
