Grow Your Skilled Workforce!Use apprenticeships as a strategy to overcome your talent crunch. The FloridaMakes Network in partnership with the Florida Department of Education – Apprenticeship Division, CareerSource Florida and Jobs for the Future (JFF) are hosting a statewide Manufacturer Apprenticeship Accelerator at Orange Technical College in Orlando on Friday, April 8.This is a hybrid event, offering both a virtual and in-person option for attendance (i.e., you can live anywhere in Florida and attend). In-person attendance will include networking with subject matter experts who can fast track your apprenticeship program or answer any questions you may have. The event will be broadcast virtually from 8:30AM - 11AM if you are unable to attend in person. What is an apprenticeship accelerator? An apprenticeship accelerator is an in-depth presentation featuring a specific industry - in this case manufacturing - that offers Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAP) in the State of Florida. It also offers an opportunity to interact with employers and sponsors in manufacturing who are currently using the Registered Apprenticeship model. This valuable event includes a national subject matter expert and highlights RAP employers and sponsors who can address their journey through the paradigm shift of a new way of training and retaining employees. Registered Apprenticeship accelerator events move a business through the beginning registration process and explain the benefits of Registered Apprenticeship programs.Keynote SpeakerScott Ellsworth, JFF Federal/State Apprenticeship Consultant; Subject Matter Expert in ManufacturingScott Ellsworth is the Principal and Owner of Scott Ellsworth Consulting and Sherpa Management Solutions. As a contractor to Jobs for the Future, he works to more fully engage employers in developing and implementing effective apprenticeship programs and driving greater inclusion of all populations in the workforce. Prior to founding Scott Ellsworth Consulting, Scott was the Director of Business Leaders United for Workforce Partnerships (BLU), a Washington DC-based advocacy and education organization that strives to bring employers into the workforce and skills gap discussion. He also has over 25 years of experience in managing a variety of manufacturing firms both large and small, including most recently as VP and General Manager of US Operations for Tipco Punch in Hamilton, Ohio. Scott holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Louisville and an MBA from LSU-Shreveport.Event OverviewIn addition to Scott Ellsworth as the keynote speaker, he will also facilitate a panel of Registered Apprenticeship (RAP) sponsors. The panel features Roy Sweatman from Southern Manufacturing Technologies, Art Hoelke from Knights Armament, and Bane Beecher from PGT Industries. Those that benefit from participating in the accelerator are C-suite executives, hiring managers and H.R. staff. We hope you will join us and encourage manufacturers in your area to attend.
